The researchers from North Carolina State University have developed a new technique to identify protein secreting by cells. This new approach should help researchers to collect accurate data on cell biology.
In the new study,
the new method developed by researchers is based on the fact: each cell wraps
its protein by using its secreting pathway. Each cells synthesizes protein, and
then transport it in this way: to wrap it in a film pouch, and ultimately it is
transported to the extracellular domain.
In this new
technique, researchers collected cell samples and isolated the
protein-containing organelles in the secretory pathway. Then they use mass
spectrometry to analysis the substances in these organelles in order to observe
which protein cell is secreting. They can identify the mouse embryos into fiber
cells and protein secreting by human embryonic stem cells by using this method.
This new method
is able to assess problems associated with protein found in the cell culture
medium. But it also allows researchers to track the changes when the cells react
from stimulus (such as exposure to a chemical) and secretes protein. This is
really a very good development for the protein field, because it can help
scientist analysis the protein instead of the old way. This technology can save
a lot of time compared with the old one. Also there are many other advantages
that I can’t tell you all. If you are interested, you can go to some lab and
experienced it.
